Troy will freely share his heart, gardening knowledge, produce, and cuttings (starts) to help inspire you on the path of simple and easy gardening. Cuttings that he will freely share at this event to start your own include: yacón, turmeric, lemongrass, sugar cane, bananas, pacific spinach, Cuban

oregano, Brazilian spinach, mint, sweet potatoes, perennial peanuts, and angel wing begonias. He’ll cover common weeds which he has lots of experience eating, methods for composting and improving soil, ground covers, and other food crops that are easy to start and grow well.

Troy Schacht worked hard, lived simply, and retired from the need to earn income at age 39. He then moved to Kauai and bought a home on 2 acres where he has been building a “family of friends” and a vegan permaculture homestead. He loves the earth, sharing his heart, and giving back in meaningful ways. His experience with gardening started as a young boy gardening with his parents and brother outside of Las Vegas, continued with window gardens in apartments, a sustainable gardening course at KCC (Kauai Community College), and finally his permaculture backyard on Kauai. Mother Nature has been his favorite teacher.
